Indexing Step 4: Setting up Wordpress blog plugins

Now that you have set up your blog from the ‘getting indexed step 3‘ post, we’ll need to add a few plugins that do not come standard with WordPress.

Plugins?

Yes, plugins are like add-ons to your WordPress blog. They’re really simple to download, install and configure. Plugins can be anything from adding custom widgets to your blog to adding simple image galleries to your site.

Why plugins for search engines?

Indexing Step 3: Create a blog

A blog? What do I need a blog for?

Look around, they’re everywhere now. Many multi-national companies have blogs, Google has had a blog for ages (in internet terms), a relative of yours may already have a blog, people are blogging.

Well what is a blog?

According to WikiPedia Blog entry:

A blog is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject such as food, politics, or local news; others function as more personal online diaries.

Indexing Step 2: Get links pointed to your site

Step 2 in the ‘getting indexed‘ process is having links placed on other websites link to your website.

How?

  1. If you have other websites built, place a link there for the search engines to follow. What’s even better, if other site is related in content to your site: a real estate website linking to another real estate site, a geothermal site linking to another geothermal website, etc.
  2. Email or call your friends and ask them to link to your site.

The 3-day index challenge

People will visit your site, get to know you or your business, request information, persue your site, purchase things, contact you, click on your ads, participate in your blog or forums and more … life is good!

Hold on one second.

If it’s a new website, let alone a recently registered domain name, you perform a search in Google and whoa … nothing!
