Step 2 in the ‘getting indexed‘ process is having links placed on other websites link to your website.
How?
- If you have other websites built, place a link there for the search engines to follow. What’s even better, if other site is related in content to your site: a real estate website linking to another real estate site, a geothermal site linking to another geothermal website, etc.
- Email or call your friends and ask them to link to your site.
- Forums. If you are active in forums and they allow links in their signatures, immediately place your link there. Especially if the forum is quick active and you have a number of posts there.
This step in the indexing process does not include submitting your links to web directories, blog postings, newsgroups and more … we’ll get to that later
What should your link look like?
The simplest form is your full website URL
Example: http://www.simplewebsiteguide.com
You can also place the name of your website in the link
Example: <a href=”http:// www. yousite.com”>Your company here</a>
Or if you are targetting for keywords, place the link with the keyword(s)
Example: <a href=”http:// www. yousite.com”>Keywords</a>
We’ll cover social network link and website directories and their value in upcoming posts! Happy linking!
